SERGEANT-AT-ARMS REPORT

Sgt Paul announced that we had 19 members present. This amounted to a 73 % attendance. We had 2 guests join us today. They were Joe Simioni and Jackie Van Der Hayden , guests of Mike Jennings.

The guest speaker , was Paul Osborne.

 

HAPPY-TOONIES

Laureen was especially happy today .

Larry was happy today . He spent the weekend with his daughter and grandkids at the cottage this past weekend. He is taking orders for discounted booze  on his road trip to Buffalo New York  . Please contact him if interested

Ken was happy his daughter is getting closer to being a practicing doctor in Ontario .She did her liscensing exams in Ottawa this past week.

Laureen was happy to be at the cottage for Victoria day , and not in a tent !

Peter was happy to celebrate his 52nd Wedding Anniversary this past week.

Gerry was happy to announce his early retirement as of June 8th.

Kristen is happy there are already 320 runners signed up for the Rotary Classic Run this coming Sunday.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Please sign up for the Change over for the Distict Governor in Toronto at the RCYC , on Saturday June 23 , 2018. Please register at the district website. , and Support Kathy Dick !
Contact president Mike if you are able to participate in the Diabetes Golf Tournament in London Ontario , on Thursday May 31st . One more golfer is needed.
Doug will contact all the volunteers for the Fun Run this Sunday.Please be at the Hespeler Arena by 8:45 AM.
GUEST SPEAKER
The guest speaker was Paul Osborne , the Vice President of Conestoga College  .
 
The college is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year .
There are 14 ,000 full time students.
4,000 international students.
3,000 apprentice students . 
Locations in 7 communities .
Over 14 degree programs .
118,000 alumni.
An accredited Engineering programme.
1,100 full time employees .
170 employeers use upscale training at Conestoga college.
Locally , 55% of working adults in the Waterloo region , have training at Conestoga College.
Last year there were 7200 Co-op students from the College .
65% of graduates work locally ,  vs 12-17 % of local University graduates.
Graduates contribute $ 2.3 billion dollars to the local economy.
The Waterloo campus has a $ 55 million expansion presently:
construction , IT , Hospitality , and a new Canadian hub.
The Doon campus has a new Rec Centre , and Library.
The Gaslight Distict will have  an Applied Research Department.
Conestoga has a joint campus with Laurier in Brantford , and soon in Milton .
Magna is partnering with Conestoga in Miton , for a logistics programme

ATTENDANCE SHEET & INVOCATION
 
 
 
 
 
NOTES:
The Sgt.‐At‐Arms shall mark the attendance sheet, input Guest Names, Visiting Rotarians and Make‐ups submitted by club members, as well as calculate the meeting percentage. You will also give the invocation when requested by the President. At the end of the meeting make sure
the Secretary has the “Secretary’s Copy”.

In addition, the SAA shall also fill in the attendance details on the “Bulletin Editor’s Copy” and make sure the editor receives it by the end of the meeting.

The person who is responsible for any Ticket sales shall enter the cash details on the “Treasurer’s Copy”. They shall also collect the Happy Toonies and enter that information on the same sheet. At the end of the meeting they shall give the treasurer the tally sheet along with
the cash in an envelope. There is a supply of banker’s envelopes in the tote box.

IF YOU CANNOT MAKE your assigned date, it is your responsibility to arrange for a replacement to take your time slot!! To be sure of your schedule, TELEPHONE your partner the day before.
