TABLE TALK

The Kinders have just returned from a trip to Iceland and will be off later in the year to South Africa. They have decided to get their travelling done before they will be settling down to the Grandparent roles.
Peter Ashenhurst had his food removed and given to someone else but it was returned eventually, he just needs to smile more when the staff brings the food.
SERGEANT-AT-ARMS REPORT

We had 16 members present today. This works out at 61%.  There were no makeups, Megan Davidson from the Preston Hespeler club visited us today.  Guest were Julie Kinder, wife of member Dave, Dick Spencer honorary member of our club, Greg Rawn a guest of Mike Jennings and hopefully our newest member and Dr. Mary Law our Guest Speaker

HAPPY-TOONIES

Dean Fitzgerald fulfilled a new role in Rotary today. This new role made our Member to be Greg Rawn a happier person.  Greg then donated money back to the club.

Dave Kinder was happy to tell everyone about the upcoming annual trip to The Dominican Republic. They are accepting donations for the trip.

Stan Jones updated us on the latest  on his son's condition. There were some setbacks especially when the costs for the latest treatment was up to $250,000.00. They were fortunate that the Trillium Fund will fund these treatments.

Fred Schiedel was hoping that the snow continues up north.

Stephen Witteveen introduced our Guest Speaker for today. Dr Mary Law is a Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Science and an associate member of the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McMaster University. She is the Co-Founder of the CanChild Centre for Childhood Disability Research. Dr Law has very recently been appointed to the Order of Canada.
Dr Law gave a brief introduction to her intensive research on Children with Disabilities. Her research has tried to break down the challenges to children with disabilities. It has also centered on client and family centered practice and the development of measures and evaluations.
This topic was very well received and many questions followed.
