OPENING CEREMONIES
President Mike called on Gerry  to lead us in the National Anthem.  This was not one of our best renditions, likely due to the small numbers present today. Peter provided the Invocation.

TABLE TALK

Numerous discussions swirled around me today. Who has already visited the Golf course ? Some have not even looked at their clubs. President Mike and Dean had a brief discussion on the ownership of a lemon wedge, I was hoping that they would call on me to adjudicate  but they settled it themselves.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Pres. Mike discussed the idea of a Scatter week. A Scatter week occurs in the fifth week of the month. Some clubs use this week to encourage members to visit other Rotary clubs. The clubs you visit are not necessarily in your home city but could be any Rotary Club. This would allow members to meet other Rotarians and to see how some clubs run their Rotary meetings.  There was unanimous support for this concept.

Past President Sean presented a motion to our club. This motion would ask the club to assist Abby Van Groningen in her journey to New Zealand to represent Canada in the Junior World Alpine Snowboarding Championship. Abby has made it to the Junior World Championship however the support from the Federal and Provincial government  is minimal. Abby Van Groningen is the daughter of  Laureen . This motion was discussed and passed at the board level.  Laureen was not present for any of these discussions. The members unanimously decided to give Abby Van Groningen $2000.00 for her trip to New Zealand, on her return she will be a speaker at one of our meetings so that she can tell us how she did in New Zealand.
