TABLE TALK
Table talk was much and varied.  Ranging in topics from summer vacation plans through to medical marijuana.
SERGEANT-AT-ARMS REPORT

We had 16 members gathered for fellowship and food for a ratio of 67%.

The ever lovely Charlene Schiedel was visiting with Fred.

Our guest speaker Mitchell Abrams was also in attendance.

HAPPY-TOONIES
Dean was happy to have his kids at camp as well as have a new President presiding over the meeting.

Sean did an awesome motorcycle road trip to Northern Quebec with some fellow bike friends.  They were as afar as Radisson, Quebec and even walked on the beach of James Bay.

Doug was in California during the occurance of the earthquake.  He can now take that event off his bucket list.

Peter had a sad as well as happy news.  Sadly, due to health issues in the family, their travels will be curtailed.  Happily, they have been able to sell the 5th wheel and have only an excellent 3/4 ton truck with very low KM's to sell.

GUEST SPEAKER
Dr. Mitchell Abrams was our guest speaker today on topic of The Medicinal Arts - The Future of Healthcare and Mental Health.

Dr. Abrams has close ties to the Cambridge area, being a radiologist at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

Mitchell began NexGenHealth as a result of a unique journey through the Western Healthcare system.  first as a physician and next as an open-heart surgical patient.

On his journey of being a patient, he came to realize gaps in how we manage and care for ourselves when compared to Eastern forms of medicine that he had been exposed to.

Current model of Western medicine is base on a biomedical model (Body as a Machine).

His work in Eastern Medicine exposed him to the philosophy to look at everything as energy and to use that energy for your health and wellness.

A new thinking came out of this work that is a melding of science and spirituality to improve health with three main points.
1:  The mind is a muscle.
2:  Bio-psycho Social Care:  Body, Mind, Social combined drive energy.
3:  Connectedness:  Everything has the same energy and rhythm.

They use art to create an Awakened Identity and a sense of Community Identity.

All of this was created as a platform to deliver a deeper form of healthcare reform, incorporating art and technology as powerful tools to help communicate and inspire his patients, clients, audiences and students.
